The yoga mats will be used daily as flexible seating and during breathing instruction. Mats will provide students with a personal place to center themselves in the classroom rather than a desk. Each day students will enter, roll out their mats, and get into a comfortable positions before beginning a lesson. Students will be able to learn to comfortably relax in an unstructured position in order to work on positive connections, personal and collective strengths, and competence in their daily lives.
The yoga mats will become part of students daily circle practice, providing a space for them to release the stress-laden, chaotic, and unpredictable nature of pre-teen and adolescent life while learning positive behaviors to support wellness.
