These materials will enable students to have a classroom set as well as a copy to keep at home during each unit. This will be especially helpful to students with learning disabilities and those who like to read prior to class to prepare or like to reread after class to review.
The stories represented in these novels will not only enable my students to feel represented, but will encourage projects that will amplify their own voices. Each novel will teach students about struggles (which they may relate to) and perseverance during difficult times.
