My students have taken on a personal goal of reading 40 books this year per student. A majority of my students do not have books at home so the requested books will help them to reach their 40 book goal.
This goal will help them to learn to become life long readers. A variety of books for them to choose from like The Lemonade War, Hoot and Fish in a Tree, will ensure that every student can find their favorite type of book and learn to love and appreciate the differences in genres. Our class library will grow exponentially with titles like One Crazy Summer, The Crossover and The Sign of the Beaver, plus the students will be able to explore so many different options for reading.
