Kindergarten has been a big year for my 21 students! Fostering positive values and a sense of community in my students has always been the heart of my goals for my class. We have spent the last 5 months learning, observing, exploring and growing together as a class community. We started off as a group of strangers and have developed into a team of explorers and learners. As an early childhood teacher, I feel so lucky to be able to work in a school that places just as much importance on play, creativity and social/emotional growth as they do on academics. This philosophy has allowed me to focus on community building along side reading, writing and math. My class has been able to focus on problem solving, being a good friend and learning how to express themselves. I love watching my students build and create throughout the day in both academic projects as well as in ways that allow them to explore social interactions and positive relationships.
