My school is situated in the Southeast region of Los Angeles, specifically in Watts, CA. The students who visit the math lab are primarily first-generation Latinos, newcomers, or African Americans who are working two to three years below grade level. Every student benefits from complimentary breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks, which are provided through Title I funding. Despite the social and economic hardships they face, the students display kindness, humility, and a strong desire to learn.
