My students want to be in school, despite other challenges in their lives. First graders can be very active, figety, and constantly active. Though some of it is their age, some of it is also a result of emotional needs they have that manifest in constant movement. As a result, they sometimes can't focus and concentrate in class. As a result, many are below grade level in all academic areas. I am working hard to make my classroom a safe, welcoming, comfortable space for all my students. I am hoping to add many options for seating to help their social emotional well-being as well as their need to move. My goal is that these seating options will help them be comfortable and more able to focus on learning.

About my class
