Though technology is an advancement in our evolution as a society and has become a necessity in our lives, the use of technology by our children for daily entertainment purposes is impacting their brain development. This lifestyle has negativity effected our children's ability to develop language and problem solving skills as well as acquire social skills. As a whole, this over-use of technology has taken away from the social aspects of learning and language development as well as effected the way our children process and react to their environment.
As preschoolers, our students need to engage in hands-on activities that promote academic growth and language develpment as well as help them acquire a solid foundation of social skills. Having the opportunity to engage in stimulating play using the board games, manipulative activites and academic materials that I'm requesting with other students during child-initiated learning time will greatly improve their growth in all developmental areas. Please help me ensure that my students have the opportunity to grow, not only with the use of technology but also the "old fashioned" way that young learners acquire knowledge....through hands-on play with other children!
