My students are in first through sixth grade. Many of them are on behavior plans, and cannot communicate. An alternate method of speaking provides my students with a voice. Once a child has a functional way to communicate, many problem behaviors vanish or decrease, which I have seen first hand. Many of my students are working on a picture based communication system. Here we focus on functional skills, and communication. We give non-verbal students a voice, and essential skills to be able to function in their environment.
