My students range from Pk-5th grade since I teach science and I service the entire school. They always come to science eager and ready to learn. We are located in a high poverty area. Many of our students come to school hungry and look forward to school breakfast and lunch. The biggest problem is our older students that bring in junk food and then sneak and eat it in the lunchroom during breakfast time. They will refuse school breakfast to eat chips, candy and soda. By the middle of the morning many of my students are sluggish and have low energy due to crashing from the sugar rush after eating so much candy for breakfast.
