As the only reading intervention teacher in my school, I am committed to building strong, confident readers. Our school currently uses a reading intervention program that requires that reading records be kept for each student. Creating paper copies of these forms is both time consuming, and creates a strain on our building's resources through the excess use of copy paper.
Having an iPad Pro, keyboard case and Apple pencil in the classroom would allow me to complete paperless reading records, thus eliminating the need to make copies on a daily basis. In addition, the need to hand score and analyze student data would be eliminated.
An iPad Pro would give my classroom the technological tool needed to provide an efficient alternative to taking a reading record on paper by providing immediate access to a digital version of the vital recording forms we use on a daily basis.
Going digital would allow me to accurately analyze reading and accuracy rate, fluency, comprehension and self-correction rate. Having an iPad Pro would help me to enhance my reading instruction to better meet the needs of my students.
