My special education students will use Samsung tablets to access an on line audio book library. They will use this library to read self selected books as well as books related to the classroom curriculum. My students will use the tablets to participate in a reading challenge to see how many pages they can read over a 6 week period. Also, they will use the tablets to read novels during the Oregon Battle of the Books.
Using tablets to read audio books with highlighted words helps special education students with focus, comprehension, vocabulary and reading fluency. Audio books allow my students to read books that they wouldn't be able to read otherwise. They feel so proud after they have read a whole novel and are able to talk about it with their friends and teachers.
