Board games have come a long way since Monopoly and Life! Modern board games use engaging themes and graphics to entice kids and adults into complex strategy exercises. Middle schoolers will benefit from the one on one communications needed when they put down electronic devices and engage in focused partner and group play.
Playing board games improves cognitive skills, attention, strategic thinking and creativity - and all through fun! My English language learners will enjoy using their language skills in an environment of low stress and high excitement. Board games will be available to students during lunch time and for short term check out for family play. In addition some word and history games will be used in classroom curriculum for my 8th grade English and American History classes.
