My school is a Title I school that is serving a rural, close-knit community. My students are 5th graders who have been impacted by COVID. I am wanting to apply for a bottle filling station (water fountain). Many of my students are not financially able to purchase water bottles and many go without proper hydration every day. Studies have shown that proper hydration is key to academic, behavioral, and emotional success. With the bottle filling station, students can receive adequate, filtered water from a sanitary station consistently throughout the school day.
My students learn best through hands-on activities and movement. They enjoy using a microscope to learn more about insects and plants. My students also like to be on the move. I have implemented a few flexible seating options in my classroom and the students could use more options. Wiggle seats will allow my movers to move, even while seated. Standing desks will allow my preferred standers to stand while having a safe place to work. The Newton's Cradle will make an excellent addition to our energy and motion lesson.
