My students live in a very poor area. Over 90 percent of our students receive free and reduced rate lunch. Many of them are fostered and adopted or their parents are in jail. There are many sad stories that sit among every group of students I teach. My school is an excellent group of adults who do the best we can to better improve the lives of our students in a very poverty stricken area. The students are very eager to learn and there are some wonderful students who are going to do great things for this community with the right leadership and direction from the adults in their lives. Giving them the opportunity to be creative is very important in this school and in my classroom.
