My students' ages range from 11 to 18 years; 6th through 12th grades. Most of my students have learning disabilities or behavior difficulties resulting in failed grades, poor attendance, and being credit deficient. Most of my students are in attendance for less than a week, but occasionally I have one for more than six months. Most of my students lack interest in school and on the outside they do little school work even though they may attend school. In the Hall, the environment is more conducive for students to get work done because there are consequences for not completing assignments. I am the only teacher and I teach all four core subjects: math, English, science and history. To offset the monotony of a single teacher for four hours, I mix the day with independent study, usually students' choice, during the morning and after lunch I provide a tutorial program for students who wish to return and work independently whatever they choose.
