My regular education 3rd grade classroom consists of bright, happy, and eager-to-learn students. I have 3 variations of the Burmese language, English, and Spanish spoken in my room. My students come from a variety of economic situations that make unique challenges for each of them. Our school once had a very small population and was a monolingual English school. We very recently experienced a population and language boom that has created a need for more visual and hands-on learning to bridge the language barrier.
I want to show my students the opportunities that an excellent education can provide them. I want all of my students to be able to master mathematics and we all know, like Paul Halmos did, that we learn best by doing. It is when we put concepts into motion and experience them for ourselves that we can truly achieve mastery of that concept.
