We are a K-8 elementary school. Year after year I am seeing an increase in the number of students that dislike reading or just struggle with reading. With a third of my class reading below grade level, I had to do something different. Many of my students have the desire to read, but because they struggle with reading, they haven't been passionate about reading daily. It wasn't until I started novel reads did many of my students find interest in reading. Many of my students have requested their own copy of the read aloud novels, so they can follow along and reference the novel when they are in team discussion. My students have the drive to read, but they need something that is more relevant and has a well-developed plot to foster their love of reading, and Wonder does just that!
