Our student athletes are composed of a majority Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders who live on Hawaiian Homestead and low-income rental housing projects. They have a very limited perception of their world view because of lack of opportunities and travel outside of our small community. They have unique personalities but they are very loyal and dedicated. No one knows their ability because they are not portrayed to the public. The only representation of our community is negative media and below average demographics. Lack of equipment prohibits proper training / preparation to compete with other schools with top of the line facilities / equipment. Our school ranks last in the state for academic achievement. However, since we have been in charge of the program, fifty percent of our football athletes have earned honor roll/principal’s list accolades.
