These materials will make a huge impact on the lives and the learning of my 2nd graders. Children need to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. It also helps keep young minds more alert, focused, and engaged. The books I have chosen will also have a huge impact on student lives. The books I picked are both mirrors and windows for my students. Mirrors are books that contain story lines, characters, and experiences that students can see themselves in. Students can make personal connections to these books and feel seen and heard after reading a book that is a mirror. A book that is a window helps students see into the life or experiences of someone else. These are incredible ways for students to feel valued, loved, and recognized.
