In our Kindergarten at our school we have a time called Centers where 2 classes at a time go into a large open area to learn using both their brains and hands. It's all student led and it's all play based. They can go to one of nine centers: House, Math, Reading, iPads, Art, Writing, Sand, Block or SMART. The students get to pick a center that interests them and play with friends from other class in an educational way. The teachers pick and theme and change the centers each month to make it exciting and new! We often use our resources we have to create items for the centers. If we can't create something we often ask for donations or go and buy items with our own money. This gets to be expensive when you must change the centers each month and often have different themes from year to year but the students LOVE center time so we see it as WORTH IT!
