As a speech and language therapist in the school system I work with children in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. We work on a variety of speech and language impairments such as receptive and expressive language delays, articulation, fluency (stuttering), memory/recall, processing and phonetics. Tablets and apps are tools that can be used no matter the grade, age or target of treatment. I pull students from their classrooms and work individually or in groups of two or three; which is why I am asking for three tablets.
It has been very difficult using one group laptop. However many of the apps require the use of touch screen technology that our laptop lacks. Basically we don't have access to all aspects of therapy based apps. These apps are specific in nature; speech and language therapy. These individual tablets would allow each student to work on their own level once the initial lesson was completed as a group. I could also work one on one with students that require more support while their peers advance. They would also allow me to use wonderful programs like Lively Letters to its fullest while differentiating the actual practice elements.
