I'm super excited to see my special education kids in person this year. We have so much to do in the new school year (and a new grade level for me!). Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which people acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
My special education students lack many of the social-emotional skills and require explicit instruction and support to make progress and most importantly, to succeed in their relationships and make thoughtful decisions throughout their lives.
The items for my project will provide daily and immediate support for my special education students. The phonics, digraphs, and vocabulary cards will allow my kids to continue their reading skills work at home; while the social-emotional mindset posters, workbook, journal, and activities will provide daily re-enforcement and visual engagement to my direct instruction.
Thank you for considering my project!
