Currently we have no working technology available in our classroom for individual or small group student use. Access to Chromebooks throughout the school day would enhance individual student learning. Through the use of Chromebooks students would have access to online reading supports such as ABC Mouse and Raz Kids where they can read books and have books read to them. These programs have a great assortment of fiction and nonfiction texts to supplement our limited classroom library. Students would have access to the online texts as well as word study activities to support their individual growth in literacy. All students, especially English language learners would benefit from the visual/auditory supports that the Chromebooks would give students access to.
The Chromebooks would give my students access to both intervention and enrichment opportunities. In math student abilities in my class this year range from kindergarten level to 3rd/4th grade level. The Chromebooks would be used for more personalized learning with access to math programs such as Freckle and I-Ready. Students would be able to complete work tailored specifically to their individual needs.
The Chromebooks would also be used for research during Social Studies and Science. My students are curious and eager to learn new information about the world around them. The Chromebooks would give many more opportunities for students to expand on and extend their learning.
I plan on using the Chromebooks to better personalize learning throughout each school day and to increase engagement across all content areas.
