My students need easy to learn, independent, engaging, hands-on activities to promote creativity, problem-solving, and social skills. Each morning, students are welcomed with a morning tub at their tables. It is a great way to gather students for the day with a fun tub to "play" with their peers. Morning tubs are an easy way to transition into the classroom. They offer the opportunity to try new things-toys, tools, games, building manipulatives, etc. each day and each week.
Morning tubs are filled with hands-on, creative, inspiring materials that encourage learning through play, design, and curiosity. I am asking for materials that my students can easily access and work independently. I am requesting materials to reinforce hands-on STEAM learning (K'NEX, Magna-Tiles, peg boards, marbles, stencils, Tinker Toys). These activities will also help my kinders work on developing fine motor skills and stamina.
I think it is important to incorporate "play" into our morning routines. Kindergarten has changed in the last two decades. Children now spend far more time being taught and tested on literacy and math skills than they do learning through play and exploration, exercising their bodies, and using their imaginations. Because of these shifts, I am asking for these hands-on "play" materials that force creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and cooperation.
Thank you for considering my project. I want to provide many opportunities for my students to learn and explore. I chose these items because I believe they will help motivate my students and encourage them as they grow and learn.
