My students are largely from working class, blue collar families. Our student population is diverse with a large number of free and reduced lunches. We are also a state wide "Focus" school because of a large gaps between our high and low achievers. My goal is to be able to connect with a larger number of students through hands on activities such as Knex. I have a waiting list of students who want to give up their lunch recess to work on these projects. This large roller coaster would allow 15 more students into the club. Which would then allow the entire 5th grade class of 45 students to be in the club. They are then boxed up at the end of the year and students start fresh the following years. This will impact 40-50 students for the rest of teaching career.
