I teach special education KG - 2nd grade. My students have multiple different disabilities and needs. My school is a Title One school, our students come from impoverished families in an inner city. Our school has a very transient student body, students frequently move in and out of our school district particularly because we have several homeless shelters that house some of my students. Most of my students do not have school supplies or any materials at home that they can use for learning. Many of my special education students come parents who are special needs themselves. Parents struggle with class material and are unable to read or do math themselves. My students are very appreciative of everything that they receive because to be honest they get little to nothing at home. My students love learning, activities, and having fun. School is a safe place for them because many of their home lives do not provide them with a safe environment. We make learning fun and interesting!
