My kindergarteners are the most amazing bunch of energetic, curious, creative, and compassionate little people. They have such a passion and excitement for learning, and their kind and caring words along with their big smiles and cheerful laughs just warm my heart. My wonderful students, my amazing paraprofessional, and I have worked hard to build our classroom into our own special place, a place of hope, a place of laughter and learning, a place where it is okay to take risks and make mistakes, and a place where we all belong. It wasn't always easy, but is absolutely essential as many of my students come to school hungry, tired, inadequately clothed, and in need of all the love, attention, and affection we can give them. Our class is one of six kindergarten classes in a large, highly diverse Title 1 school with approximately 65% of the kids at our school receiving free and reduced lunch.
