How great would it be if kids had something free, fun, and productive to do after school? How many social problems could be improved if young people had access to free educational activities to do during their free time rather than occupying themselves with digital media, or getting involved in harmful activities like gangs, pornography, drugs, alcohol, vandalism, etc? These are the questions that inspired me to start an after school painting club for my students. These materials will provide the paint, canvases, and brushes required to teach at-risk youth how to paint at no cost to the student. Kids who are at risk of getting involved in harmful past-times are usually from homes without financial stability. In just the few short weeks we’ve had the club so far, I’ve seen students improve their skills and build their confidence. We have a regular group of students who come every week and they often bring a friend to try it out. My vision of a fun, educational, and positive after school activity for at-risk youth is coming to fruition. However, the supplies are running out quickly. Please help us continue this club!
