I have had the pleasure of teaching my 25 students for two years. We loop at our school so I get a new crop of kids entering 4th grade and then keep them for 5th grade. I love this structure because I really learn who all my students are as learners, people and most importantly - as readers! I have a range of reading abilities in my classroom from below grade level to well above grade level. The students in my room also come from a wide range of backgrounds as well. I have 2 English Language Learners in my classroom, and 3 students on Individualized Education Plans. Our school only has a 1/2 time librarian and a 1/2 time library secretary. Our school is one of 4 public elementary schools in our town. Our town is in a predominately rural location and is the hub of commerce for 200 miles with a hospital, and college that draws people here. Our school district is another reason people like our area. Our students succeed, as evidenced by State and National Assessment Scores.
