I am a high school teacher whose primary areas of teaching are English, ESL, and Ethnic Studies. I center principles grounded in critical language teaching and critical pedagogy. I believe all ELL and diverse students deserve an enriched, critical, and relevant curriculum that helps them navigate their social context with a critical consciousness, all while learning the skills deemed important in our society. I received the Utah NAME Exemplary Educator for Diversity Award (2014), the Cache County School District Teacher of the Year Award (2014), and The Belva Hanson Award (student body selected) Teacher of the Year Award in 2014. I love my job and I love my students! Picture: Student recipient of a full ride university scholarship.
