I teach a wide range of 9th and 10th grade students at a diverse art-magnet public school. Some of my students live in poverty and some come from affluent homes. Some speak another language than English or have come from another country. Some look like I do and many do not. We all come to reading and writing with a different perspective; I want to help students see other perspectives through what we read and engage all my wonderfully unique students with teaching that develops their literacy skills and empowers them to think critically and reflectively about themselves and their relationship to others.
