My class meets in a room that stood empty for five years. As the rest of the school was carpeted and remodeled, this room was bypassed. Since the beginning of the school year, my students and I have worked wonders in transforming it into a vibrant place of learning. The one thing student artwork and Goodwill purchases haven't been able to fix is the cold, hard linoleum floor.
My young scholars need a warm, soft surface for group times, hands-on STEM activities and to watch SmartBoard presentations. Many of our learning experiences are collaborative and a nice rug would provide the perfect area for group work. It would also make greeting time and wrap-up discussions so much more comfortable.
