Our school is pre-k through 6th grade school and serves mostly English language learners. My students live in a primarily Hispanic, low socio-economic area where they are exposed to violence and crime on a daily basis. School is where they go to escape the neighborhood and the violence, and often say this is the only place they truly feel safe.
I have 28 students. 17 are boys and 11 are girls. They are a sweet group of kids. On their free time, the boys enjoy playing soccer while the girls love to draw. They are always willing to try new things and work really hard to be successful.
