My students need various materials to encourage their love of writing and create an excitement for our writing workstation. Our school struggles with writing and I want to provide my students a head start. Through the use of these materials, the students will begin to understand that writing is meaningful and communicates information. These materials will help differentiate instruction. They will allow students to work at their level, whether that be drawing, tracing letters, or writing independently.
The tabletop writing center will help organize and make the materials accessible to the students. The alphabet punches are a great source of fine motor practice, as well as a way to practice letter identification. The students can punch them out and then glue them to form names and other words. The students can also use the alphabet stamps and ink pads to practice forming names and words. The dotted ones even provide an extra opportunity for the students to trace the letters after they have made the words. Students can use the tactile letters to practice tracing the letters and developing motor memory of letter formation. They can also use them to make crayon rubbings of the letters. The Magic Boards/Dry Erase Markers, and Write and Wipe Alphabet cards provide letter formation practice. The hole punch and rings will be used to make name cards and word cards to hang at the center for students to copy. They are able to create student made books using the softcover books.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our Pre-K classroom by building stronger writers. This will change our students' lives for the better because they will love school and feel success at an early age - having fun while learning!
