My classroom already has a few flexible seating options, my students love to use these when they are reading. I would love to give them a few more comfortable options. I have found that giving students more options, helps them be more engaged in learning.
My goal this year is to get my struggling readers to love books and reading. Often times some of my students are not well represented in most of the books we often read aloud. I want to provide my students with a wide range of diverse books that will hopefully connect them to what they are reading. When students can relate to the characters in the books, they are most likely to build a love for learning. The specific collection of books will help our class learn about cultures from all over the world. These books are necessary to continue moving forward in a society where all kids are accepted and included.
I'm hoping that these books will help students develop a love for reading as well as those around them. My students are all on very different levels especially due to online learning, and frequent absences, but I am seeing by having more engaging lessons and materials, my students want to be at school, and they want to learn more. I'm hoping to present my students with a safe and engaging classroom that they will love to come to. I also want my students to thrive to be outstanding citizens, and I want them to love learning!
