My first graders are energetic, intelligent and creative. This fall our classroom will have a minimum of 20 students. We "live" in a classroom that is organized, colorful and interesting. Educational, eye catching and multipurpose is what I strive for in my classroom.
However, this fall our school is gaining 3 new classrooms as well as an entire town of students. The town "next door" has just finished the process of leaving their RSU and joining ours. School budgets are tight and a $300 classroom budget (yes, that is for an entire class and year) does not go far.
As our school family grows, the need to have a carpet area where we can come together as a classroom community is essential. It is also important to keep transition time to a minimum so we can get down to the business of being the fantastic first graders that I know we can be and are!
