Picture books are a great way to open conversations about topics with students. These books focusing on kindness in our world will help lay the foundation for our classroom community for the year. Students will get to hear, see, and practice being a better human and take this skill beyond our classroom walls.
The books included have diverse stories and characters allowing each of my own unique students to make connections with the text. Students that have the opportunity to connect with and see themselves within the stories are likely to take on these traits. The themes of kindness, perseverance, and curiosity will stick with us the entire school year.
