My students come from a very poor and urban school district. No matter what their home life is like they come to school to explore and learn new things. As their teacher I have tried to create a learning environment that best fits their needs. That being said I am always changing things to better our environment. My students learn the most when activities and lessons are taught with a hands-on approach. They also learn a lot through our center time where they are able to choose different areas in the room to work in. Because they do not have a lot of resources at home, I try to use a wide variety of manipulatives, toys and activities in the classroom to broaden their horizons.
