My project will allow low income students the opportunity to become digital learners. This is necessary because our state and district are purchasing e-books and e-learning materials but not the devices to use to teach using these resources. I also would take advantage of virtual field trips so that my students can see the world around them when travel may be limited. I want to give my students the technology experience they need to be competitive in todays college and job market.
Having iPads in the classroom brings education to life. These iPads will also be beneficial for early literacy skills and can be used in all areas of learning. With this project my 1st grade students will be competitive with their peers from other regions where iPads are provided in the classroom. I will also be using the iPads and other supplies to enrich my literacy block. With these devices students can listen to reading and story books while using strategies to improve comprehension. In addition to the iPads I have requested toner to provide my students with take home paper books. Most of my students do not have books available at home and with this project I can change that. Students will be able to select and print any book to take home for family reading time. Last, we will also be using the literacy listening center to enhance beginning reading skills. This project will greatly impact student learning and give my students a better foundation for future learning. Thanks for your support!
