" Why?" and "How?" are two of my favorite questions during my school day. And what better way to answer these questions with hands-on experiments and materials? Children learn by doing and understand more by playing an active role in their learning. Many of my students are multi-lingual and English is not their first language. Therefore, materials that enable visual and tactile learning are very important. Oral comprehension is sometimes difficult for them, so I would like to provide them with more engaging activities that they use to learn and discover on their own, in a way they can understand.
I am in need of new, engaging science materials and activities to help enhance my students scientific knowledge and to satisfy their curiosity of the world around them. Through experimentation, the children will be able to actively discover and answer their own questions. They will be able to make predictions, be creative and improve their critical thinking skills. The Science Stations, Discovery Chest and Life Cycle Theme Box would help enhance my Science lessons by actually letting the children explore the things we are learning together in smaller groups. They would initiate discussions between the children as they explore and experiment cooperatively. These materials would not only enhance their scientific knowledge with visual and tactile opportunities, but they would also enhance their expressive and receptive language. The Non Fiction News stand would provide age-appropriate informational texts that would help further their understanding of topics we are studying. We would be able to use these books for various reading activities including partner reading, reading responses and informational writing.
I truly look forward to giving my students the opportunity to explore, learn and grow through the use of these great new materials. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.
