I have been working for over a month to get a new iPad for one of my students. They had great attendance and always did their homework. Because their iPad has not been working they have not been able to participate in remote learning.
My students' mother is a widow and she is the sole caregiver for a child with a disability. She does not have the means to purchase an iPad nor should she. I teach ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Activities of Daily Living.
It has been heartbreaking for me as a teacher not to be able to do anything to get this child an iPad so he can learn alongside his peers. It's hard enough to face a pandemic but not to be able to attend school through no fault of your own is a disgrace.
