After teaching for 20 years, I have developed vocal nodules. I have spent the last couple of months in speech therapy learning ways to strength my breathe support and using the "confidential voice" technique that gives my voice a rest.
Since vocal rest is nearly impossible while teaching, a portable microphone system would allow my students the opportunity to hear me better and I would not have to try to project my voice, putting added strain on my vocal folds.
Not only would this microphone system be beneficial for my instruction, but the students could us it too. My students would be able to take turns using the microphone when presenting in front of the class.
