As a Resource Teacher I work with students with learning challenges who range from Kindergarten to 5th grade. My students are Latinos and come from low social economic backgrounds. Their access to home computers are limited as well as their opportunities to venture out of their local community.
I am always looking to differentiate their instruction in order to work directly with each student's disability which varies widely from Autism, ADHD, OHI to SLD. It is so necessary to plan lessons that involve a variety of activities. Project based learning and self-determined engagement activities are part of that model. These activities require access to a variety of resources that range from computers, hands-on focus labs, field trips to cross-discipline activities.
A major limitation or frustration is my inability to provide all the tools necessary to make their learning more accessible and authentic.
