The students will be able to log into Study Island, RazzKids, Khan Academy, and other programs as well as to take Accelerated Reading tests in my class. This allows them to practice the skills in a safe way and to get the results instantly. This gives me the feedback I need to reteach the skills they have not mastered and to move on to newer skills when they have mastered the first set of skills. We want my students to be the best adults they can be. They can see instructional videos to watch experiments in Science and to see places like Jamestown for US History so that the words in their textbooks can come alive in their minds. They will have an easier time recalling answers to test questions.
Using programs like IXL, students work on areas in math where the questions are on their academic level, not on their grade level. One of my students does math on a first grade level, and in IXL, he would be working on simple addition facts until he has mastered them before moving on to simple subtraction facts.
I do not have enough working computers in my classroom to allow more than one student on at a time. More computers means that they are able to spend more time learning with the ultimate goal of being able to do the work on their grade level.
