I'm a 3rd year teacher working in an incredibly diverse community, just outside of Seattle. 100% of students at my elementary school receive free breakfast, snacks, & lunch. My school is located near apartments that support refugees & low-income families. I have students from Mexico, Samoa, Thailand, Iraq, Turkey, Somalia, & other countries all over the world. I have 20 6th grade students that come to my classroom with a different story. Our population includes general education, special education, English language learners & typically are well-below grade level. My students are naturally inquisitive & each one brings a unique set of skills to our environment. They challenge & inspire me every single day: I want them to be the best version of themselves & they help me to be the best teacher I can be. They deserve it.
