Reading is the most important thing we as teachers can teach our students. Students have to be able to, not only understand what they read, but to read text smoothly. We will use these classroom sets of books to help the students become more fluent readers while learning to love to read. We will be using these books in literacy circles and whole class reading. There will be one book for each month of the school year. The books are different genres to help teach different comprehension strategies. Most of the titles are the start of a series to encourage students to read the others on their own.
Reading is the most important skill, that we as teachers, can teach our students. Reading is everywhere! Learning to read will make a difference in our students' lives.
