A classroom rug is something I have been dreaming about for awhile. Currently, I have a small rug handed down to me by a former teacher. I'm grateful for the rug; however, the rug is not large enough for all 22 of my students to sit on. When we come to the carpet for whole group instruction 8 of my students must sit on the cold, concrete floor. The other students who sit on the carpet are sitting very close together with not a lot of personal space.
I want each of my students to have a comfortable place to come to on the rug so they can focus and be engaged in the lesson. By placing a larger rug in my classroom students will have their own personal space and not have to be worried if someone is in their space or if they will be one of the ones who has to sit on the floor.
I believe that having a place for each student when we are having a lesson will enhance the MAGIC of the lesson for them.
