Join me in creating a space for effective mini-lessons. As a special education teacher, I receive limited financial support from my county. I have been participating in professional development and have observed the implementation of a classroom meeting space for delivering mini-lessons and I know that adding a reading center and chart stand into my classroom will help create a dedicated space for learning.
The reading center with chart stand will become a central teaching aid in providing my students a focal point during the mini-lessons. I will be able to be on their level and provide support to them as we learn together. This tool will be an integral part of my daily math and English Language Arts blocks. The reading center with chart stand and chart paper will allow me to prepare in advance the materials needed for mini lessons, such as word problems in math. This will allow even more time for instruction. The reading center with chart stand will also allow me to dedicate a group area away from where the students work on a daily basis. I will work with my students to teach them about how special our group area is to us-- a safe place where they will learn, make mistake and work together.
