This project will provide 200 books for our Kindergarten class library. These books will allow students to learn to read at their level because the books I chose will meet kids where they are and take them to where they need to be.
Kindergarten students will use this leveled class library to learn to read and practice selecting "just right" books. Students will be engaged in self-selected reading and partner reading during our guided reading time. Students will also be able to respond to literature using their reading journals.
This class library will be a model for other classrooms on how to implement The Daily Five principles and guided reading in a Kindergarten classroom. These books will serve as a tool to create a learning environment that is rich with literature and discussion.
