We know that student engagement is the key to successful teaching. In order to engage, we must first motivate. What better way to motivate our students than to give them control over the best manner for them, as individuals, to become successful scholars! Research has shown that flexible seating classrooms are improving student engagement, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and promoting invigorating conversations.
"May we CHOOSE our OWN seats?" When students take ownership of something like where they sit, they take ownership of how they'll learn. I have been using the flexible seating model for 4 years now. Each year I am impressed with how students evolve as thinkers and problem-solvers.
